“SMILEY NOT SMILEY”
It probes the role of emojis as a novel visual language in modern communication, which was originally designed to facilitate communication. The work explores the intriguing juxtaposition of unrelated emojis with words, highlighting their dual role in clarifying and obscuring meaning. Sometimes these emojis help clarify our feelings or intentions. But at other times, they are used to add layers of mystery and ambiguity. Do we use emojis to express our emotions more vividly, or do we use them to hide what we really feel? Do we want to simplify communication, or do we secretely want to complicate it?
